KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.67 g, 12h). ‘Amphipolis’ mint. Struck circa 294-290 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Nikephoros seated left; anchor in left field, monogram below throne. Unpublished. EF, lightly toned.

Although unpublished with these controls, the style, particularly of Herakles, is clearly that of the latest issues attributed to the ‘Amphipolis’ mint (cf. Price 502-8). Most similar is the illustration of Price 506, the obverse die of which almost certainly was executed by the same hand that produced the obverse die of this coin.
