LAKONIA, Koinon of the Lakedaimonians. Circa 72-21 BC. Æ 20mm (8.29 g, 12h). Diademed head of Roma right; RWMA below / Artemis standing left, quiver over shoulder, holding branch; KOI to upper left, LA/KE in two lines to left, KU/PA/RIC/CIA in four lines to right, TI-monogram across lower field; all within wreath. Grunauer group XXIII, 1 (V1/R1); BCD Peloponnesos -; SNG Copenhagen 601 (same dies); BMC 68 (same dies). VF, hard green patina, a little flat in areas. Extremely rare, only 9 examples known to Grunauer, all in museum collections.
