Struck 927-969. +IhSU X[PI]SCVS+, facing bust of Christ, holding book of Gospels in left hand; cross behind head / [+ PETPO/C A[...]RIR(OY)IMXàLTAR (sic), crowned, facing busts of Petr, wearing chlamys and raising right hand, and his wife, Eirine (Maria) Lecapene, wearing loros and extending left hand, holding patriarchal cross between them. Jordanov Type III.3Aa; Youroukova 10 . VF, gray-brown patina, minor damage.

In 927 Petr married Maria, the daughter of Romanus I, in a diplomatic effort to establish peace between Bulgaria and the Byzantine Empire. To underscore the nature of the new relationship, Maria was renamed Eirine (”Peace”).
