NORMAN. William II Rufus. 1087-1100. AR Penny (1.05 g, 6h). Cross in quatrefoil type (BMC II). Northampton mint; Sæwine, moneyer. Struck circa 1089-1092. +PILLELM REI (MR ligate), crowned facing bust, holding sword in right hand / SEP+I ON HIIMTN, long cross pattée, with annulet in center, within quatrefoil. SCBI -; BMC -; cf. On the present coin, the reverse legend appears to have been re-engraved in the die, possibly over a previous moneyer.
