SICILY, Herbessos. 339-336 BC. Æ Hemilitron (18.86 g, 6h). Wreathed head of female (Sikelia?) right / Forepart of man-headed bull right. Castrizio series III, 1 (D1/R1); CNS 5 OS; SNG ANS -. Near VF, olive brown patina. Overstruck on Zeus Eleutherios/Horse drachm of Syracuse (cf. CNS 80). Rare.

Very little is known about Herbessos. Practically all of its coinage dates from the time of Timoleon of Syracuse, with whom Herbessos was allied.
