SICILY, Syracuse. Deinomenid Tyranny. 485-466 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.82 g, 10h). Struck under Hieron I, circa 475-470 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand and reins in left, driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses with open wreath / Diademed head of Arethusa right, wearing single-pendant earring; four dolphins and ΣVRA-KO-Σ-IO-N (R inverted) around. Boehringer series XIIc, 337 (V166/R237); SNG ANS 108; Pozzi 558 (same dies); SNG Tübingen 642 (same dies); Weber 1567 (same dies). Good VF, toned.
