INDIA or AFRICA. Brass Obverse Die. Dimensions: length, 14mm, of cylindrical form commencing 24 mm at the face and widening to 30 mm; actual die face recessed 2mm. Weight: 80.80 grams. Die engraved: S/I/I/V/E/N/C D/V/X ΓIΛIICIΛVBIC (B and last C retrograde), St. Mark standing right, holding the Gospels and presenting flag to Doge kneeling left. Centering mark visible at center, die alignment mark at top. Cf. Ives pl. XVI, 1; cf. Bell, Imitation 1989.9.4.4068-4069 (BM, Valdettaro). EF, moderate signs of use wear. No coins struck with this obverse documented. Rare.
