SICILY, Syracuse. Dionysios I. 405-367 BC. AR Dekadrachm (41.79 g, 3h). Reverse die signed by Euainetos. Struck circa 405-400 BC. Charioteer driving fast quadriga left, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer; below heavy exergual line, [military harness, shield], greaves, cuirass, and Attic helmet, all connected by a horizontal spear / Head of Arethusa left, hair bound in wreath of grain ears, wearing triple-pendant earring and necklace; surrounded by four dolphins; [EV-AINE below]. Gallatin dies R.III/C.I; SNG ANS 363/362 (same obv./rev. dies); SNG Lloyd -; Dewing 876/874 (same obv./rev. dies); Jameson 828 (same dies); Hirsch 591 (same dies). Good VF, toned, slight roughness and porosity. Struck on a broad flan.
