Unusual Overstrike

Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (2.90 g, 10h). Uncertain mint. Radiate and draped bust right / CONRDIA NILITVM (sic), clasped hands. Cf. RIC V 758. Good VF, brown patina, overstruck on an uncertain type. Rare.

The legs of the figure on the reverse of the undertype are clearly visible, and most closely resembles that found on types featuring Jupiter or Hercules.
