CELTIC. Trinovantes(?). Circa 1st Century BC. AV Stater (5.56 gm). Early inscribed L. "Climping variety," similar to Whaddon Chase. Devolved Apollo head right / Horse left; pellets in annulets and other symbols around. Cf. Hobbs 306-328; cf. Van Arsdell 1476; cf. Seaby 32. Good VF. Extremely rare, one of just a handful known, and the best of only three in private hands. ($3000)
