ATTICA, Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. AR Tetradrachm (30mm, 16.79 g, 12h). New Style coinage. Miki(on) and Theophra(stos), magistrates. Struck 137/6 BC. Head of Athena Parthenos right, wearing necklace, pendent earring, and triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with the protomes of four horses above the visor, a Pegasos in flight rightward above the raised earpiece, and a curvilinear ornament on the shell / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; A-ӨE above MI/KI ӨE/OΦPA (magistrates’ names) in three lines across field; to right, Nike driving quadriga right; uncertain letter on amphora, AP below; all within wreath. Cf. Thompson 323 (same obv. die; uncertain month letter). Good VF, a few marks on the amphora obfuscating the month letter.
