CHINA, Provincial. Húběi (Hupeh). AR Liǎng – Tael. Imperial Dragon type. Wǔchāng mint. Dated RY 30 of the Guāngxù Emperor (1904). “zào shěng běi hú nián shí sān xù guāng (rosette) kù píng yī liǎng (rosette),” (Made in Húběi province in year 30 of Guāngxù/Treasury scales equal to 1 liǎng) in Hànzì, “yín bì dà qīng,” (Silver coin of the great Qīng dynasty) in Hànzì around similar legend in Manchu script / HU – PEH PROVINCE/ONE TAEL, two flying imperial dragons facing one another, coiled outward and surrounded by stylized clouds; between, “yín liǎng,” (1 liǎng) in Hànzì below fireball; to right and left, similar legend in Manchu script. L&M 180; Kann 933; KM (Yeoman) 128.2. In ANACS slab graded MS 61, lustrous and lightly toned.
