PHRYGIA, Laodicea ad Lycum. Philip II. As Caesar, AD 244-247. Æ (27mm, 8.20 g, 6h). Bareheaded, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Wolf (λύκος) and boar (κάπρος) seated facing each other. SNG München -; SNG von Aulock -; Lindgren & Kovacs 998 (same dies). VF, brown patina. Rare variety; the wolf and boar are normally seated back to back, with heads turned to face each other.


The reverse alludes to the chief rivers in the vicinity of Laodicea, the Lycos and Kapros.
