MACEDON, Mende. Circa 460-423 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 17.00 g, 12h). Inebriated Dionysos, holding kantharos in right hand, reclining left, head turned right, on back of an ass standing right / [MEN]-ΔA-IO-N in shallow incuse square around shallow quadripartite square. Noe, Mende 83 (this coin in references); SNG ANS 345; Jameson 1969; Kraay & Hirmer 405 = GPCG pl. 10, 14; ACGC 462 = SNG Ashmolean 2303 (all from the same dies). Good VF, toned, minor roughness and area of flat strike on reverse. Fine style. Rare.
