MESSENIA, Messene. Circa 370/69-330 BC. AR Obol (10mm, 0.79 g, 8h). Wreathed head of Demeter left / Tripod. Grandjean 12a corr. (D6/R8 – this coin, illustrated; incorrect die axis); BCD Peloponnesos 701; BMC 3 (same obv. die); HGC 5, 561. Good VF, toned, flan chipped along upper edge on obverse. Very rare, one of only 19 known, of which 15 are in museums.
