Rev. Θ Ε Head of Dionysos to right, bearded and wearing an ivy wreath. BCD Boiotia 442/4 var. (
differing head of Dionysos). Lustrous, sharp and attractive. Good extremely fine.

Dionysos was one of the major gods in Thebes and his cult was celebrated by the placement of his head on a limited number of tetradrachm reverse dies. The quality of these heads is outstanding.
