THESSALY, Pharsalos. Mid to late 5th century BC. AR Tetartemorion (5.5mm, 0.28 g, 5h). Head of Athena r., wearing crested Attic helmet / Φ below r., A to l., P above to r., all letters sideways, head and neck of horse r., in nearly circular incuse. Not in Lavva. Unpublished, unknown and unique (?). Near VF, lightly toned with uniform light surface crystallization; perfectly centred and struck for its size, an amazing miniature.

This is the third known Thessalian tetartemorion (1/4 obol). The other two are also in this catalogue: Larissa (lot 143) and Pharkadon (lot 612). No other Thessalian tetartemoria are known to exist up to now in public or private collections
