THESSALY, Pherai. Late 2nd quarter of the 5th century BC. AR Hemiobol (9mm, 0.44 g, 9h). Bull’s hoof, border of dots / Θ-E l. up, horse’s head and neck r., all in incuse square. Liampi, Corpus -. Obv. die and rev. letter arrangement not in corpus. VF, lightly toned; linear die flaw accross the obv., from middle l. to bottom r. and pellet flaw at 11 o’clock; rev. slightly off centre and flat struck at lower part of horse’s neck; a rare denomination, especially for Pherai.

To record die positions, the hoof is taken pointing downwards, as on the plate of photographs in the die study.
