NORMAN, Civil War. Henry, Earl of Northumberland. 1139-1152. Cut AR Halfpenny (19mm, 0.65 g, 3h). Period D, type III. Uncertain mint and moneyer. [+ STIF]E[N]E R[E], crowned bust right, holding scepter / [ ... ]O[ ... ], cross crosslet; in each quarter, small cross pattée in saltire, with outer ends terminating in crescents. Cf. Mack 288-9 (for type); SCBI -; SCBC 5014. Good VF, toned. Extremely rare.
