NORMAN. William II Rufus. 1087-1100. AR Penny (21mm, 1.40 g, 7h). Profile type (BMC i). Lundene (London) mint; Eadwig, moneyer. Struck 1086-1089. + PIILLEL(M R)EX, crowned bust right, holding sword / + EDPI ON LVNDNEN, cross pattée, with annulet at center; all over cross fleurée in saltire. SCBI –; BMC 32; North 851; SCBC 1258. Near EF, beautifully toned, reverse struck slightly off center. An attractive portrait. Very rare.
