Extremely Rare Henry I Penny from Bath
NORMAN. Henry I. 1100-1135. AR Penny (18mm, 1.32 g, 3h). Facing Bust/Cross in Quatrefoil type (BMC ix). Bathan (Bath) mint; Aelfwine, moneyer. Struck circa 1109. + ҺENRI REX, crowned and diademed facing bust, holding scepter; to right, star above quatrefoil / + ALFPINE : ON : BADA, short cross pattée within pointed quatrefoil; small quatrefoil in each quarter. EMC -; SCBI -; BMC -; North 865; SCBC 1270. Good VF, unevenly toned, official edge snick and minor striking crack. Extremely rare, and apparently an unpublished mint for this type.
