SASANIAN. Varhran II. 276-293 AD. AR Drachm (4.40 gm). Conjoined busts of Varhran and consort, her crown topped with a boar's head; the smaller bust of a prince with an eagle crown and wreath before them / Fire altar flanked by Varhran and consort (holding wreath); diadem and crescent above, pellets and crescent on altar. Göbl X/3. Good VF, a few waves and scratches. Scarce. ($200)

An excellent piece of artistry, this issue is a monument to the family of Vahrhan. The coin is one of the few types to have the portrait of a woman, and one of even fewer to portray a specific woman on the reverse.
