ARAB-SASANIAN. Imitation of Khusro II type. Year 34 or 35 = AH 45 or 46 (666-668 AD). AR Drachm (3.84 gm). Imitating Ayran mint. Sasanian style bust with standard legends of Khusro; mispelled bismillah in margin / Fire altar with attendants. Walker Arab Sasanian -; Gaube -; MWI -; Album -. Very Rare. ($2500)

Completely unknown to Walker at the time of his publication. The dates are regnal years, taken from the continuation of Yazdgard's Reign. The marginal inscription is uncertain in its translation, but appears to be derived from the usual bismillah. This is an indication of possible Hunnic origin, but everything stylistically adheres to the Sasanian and Arab-Sasanian prototypes.
