Sold for $130. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Bronze figure of Mercury. Roman. Solid cast figure of Mercury, drapery over shoulder, wearing winged cap, holding crude caduceus with left hand. Right hand now missing, but would have originally held a purse. Height: 5.0cm. See P. G. Warden, The Hilprecht Collection of Greek, Italic, and Roman Bronzes in the University of Pennsylvania Museum for a very similar specimen. Dark green patina. Right arm and legs broken. Of crude provincial style.

This figure was likely set inside a household lararium, (small shrine to the gaurdians of the family).
