Silver ring with scene of the Raising of Lazarus. Romano-Byzantine, 4th-5th centuries AD. Plain band widening towards round bezel featuring intaglio scene of the Raising of Lazarus: Lazarus, wrapped in shroud, within distyle aedicula beside tree; before aedicula, Martha kneeling before Christ, entreating His assistance; Christ, standing facing, raises short wand in the direction of the aedicula with right hand and holds bundle of drapery in left.
Ring size: British T, US 9¾; weight: 8.84g. Toned. A number of light marks and scratches, band slightly bent at back, otherwise a finely preserved and highly interesting Early Christian piece.
