ASIA MINOR, Uncertain. 5th century BC. AR Hemiobol (7mm, 0.37 g). Head right, with short hair, wearing Corinthian helmet / Stellate design within linear square border within incuse square. VF, toned, light porosity. Scarce.

While missing from the standard collections and references, such coins appear at auction from time to time. They are undoubtedly from Asia Minor, with Ionia being a good candidate for a more precise place of minting. Subtle changes in style and incuse patterns suggest they were struck over a considerable period of time. Probably the best resource for this coinage is the website AsiaMinorCoins.com, where similar examples can be found in their “Uncertain Greek” gallery.
