From the Clearwater Collection. Ex Astarte XXII (12 June 2010), lot 235.

We have been unable to trace the provenance of this superb Pound before 2010 when it appeared in the Astarte sale in Lugano. It was offered with a small group of choice English rarities all of which had very old cabinet tones. The reverse die for this coin is found on only one other specimen – Spink 63, lot 343 (ex Helen Farquar, Frederick Hilton-Price, and J. Spink, Sr. collections).
