THESSALY, Pherai. Circa 460-440 BC. AR Hemidrachm (14mm, 2.89 g, 6h). Thessalos, nude but for petasos tied at neck, standing left, in background, holding band across horns of forepart of bull leaping left / Forepart of bridled horse right; to upper left, lion’s head fountain spout with water pouring from its mouth; all within incuse square. BCD Thessaly II 684 (same rev. die). Near VF, toned, struck with worn dies. Very rare.
