KINGS of PERSIS. Baydād (Bagadat). Early 3rd century BC. AR Tetradrachm (28mm, 15.96 g, 8h). Istakhr (Persepolis) mint. Head right, with short beard, mustache, and earring, wearing kyrbasia with flaps tied behind / Aramaic legend: (br) bgwr[t] (= “(son of) Baywār[d]”) downward to right, bgdt prtrk’ zy (= “Baydād frataraka of”) in exergue, ’lhw’ (= “the gods”) upward to left, fire temple of Ahura-Mazda; to left, Baydād standing right; standard to right.
