Lower Egypt or Levant. Circa 1800-1500 BC. Darkened enstatite scarab with bronze ring fragment (17x14mm [dimensions of scarab]). In top register of base, two men sitting before a tree, with arms outstretched; in lower register, plant and geometric shapes. Back is simply carved, giving shape only to the head and clypeus. Pierced for suspension. Similar in type to scarabs published by Keel (Frankfort festschrift) p. 63-4. Damage to the polishing of the scarab from burial. Ring fragment heavily encrusted.
