ITALY, Piacenza. Ranuccio Farnese. 1592-1622. AV 2 Doppie (29mm, 12.87 g, 9h). Dated 1592-VR. Bust left / Crown above she-wolf. CNI IX –; Friedberg 907 (but date unrecorded). Near VF, edge irregularity, evidence of possibly having been in a bezel. Possibly unpublished.

The first date listed in CNI and Friedberg for this type is 1599 with mintmaster signature “PP.” The “VR” intials appear on the 1592 issue of Ranuccio’s predecessor, Alexander Farnese.
