LOW COUNTRIES, Republiek der Zeven Verenigde Nederlanden (Dutch Republic). Kampen. 1581-1795. AV Dubbele gouden dukaat (25mm, 6.78 g, 5h). In the name of Ferdinand III, Holy Roman Emperor. Dated
1652. Ferdinand standing right, holding globus cruciger and scepter over shoulder / Legend in five lines within ornate tablet. P&W Ka13 (date not listed); CNM 2.30.15 (same); Delmonte,
Or 1116 (same); KM 50 (same); Friedberg 160. Near EF.
From the collection of Dr. Lawrence A. Adams, purchased from M. Louis Teller, November 1979.
This curious coin is in the module of a dukaat, but with a weight more appropriate for a dubbele. The date is only listed for this denomination in Friedberg, though all 1652 dated “dukats” on CoinArchives appear to share the same dies and, when noted, a similar weight.
