Struck circa 865/8-870. + CEOLNOÐ ARCHIEP, diademed bust right / +TOCGA across central field, MON and ETA in lunettes above and below. SCBI 9 (Ashmolean), 52 (same dies); BMC 60; North 249 (Group IV); SCBC 895 (this coin illustrated). Choice EF, deeply toned, and extremely rare of this profile type. A very desirable coin with a remarkable pedigree.
