ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. Ibn al-Ash’ath (‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad). Rebel, AH 80-84 / AD 699-704. AR Drachm (32mm, 3.99 g, 6h). Arab-Sasanian type. DA (Darabgird) mint. Dated YE 70 = AH 82 (AD 701/2). Crowned Sasanian-style bust right; pellets-above-stars-in-crescents, bismillah, and rahman Allah in Arabic in outer margin; triple pellets flanking lowest pellet-above-star-in-crescent / Fire altar with ribbons and attendants; star and crescent flanking flames; date to left; mint to right; pellet to left of altar shaft.
