NORMAN. William II Rufus. 1087-1100. AR Penny (20mm, 1.44 g, 9h). Profile type (BMC i). Caentwarabyrig (Canterbury) mint; Agmundr, moneyer. Struck circa 1087-1089. + PILLEL(M R)E, crowned bust right, holding sword / + IIHGEMIIND ON NT, cross pattée, with annulet at center; all over cross fleurée in saltire. SCBI –; BMC –; EMC –; North 851; SCBC 1258. Near EF, deeply toned, minor double strike in obverse legend. Very rare moneyer and mint for issue.
