‘ATYPICAL’ COINS, Laodicea type. Elagabalus. AD 218-222. Æ Tetradrachm (23mm, 13.57 g, 12h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; eight-pointed star between legs; Δ Є across fields. Cf. Prieur 1735. Brown surfaces with earthen green deposits. Near EF. Extremely rare, this coin was not part of the Prieur collection at the time of his book’s publication.
