SICILY, Katane. Circa 410-404 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.23 gm). Obverse die signed by Euainetos. Charioteer driving unruly quadriga left, making the turn around the meta (turning post), flying Nike above holding wreath and plaque marked EUAIN; crab in exergue / Laureate head of Apollo left; fillet with bell before, crayfish behind. Gulbenkian 188; Basel 334 (same dies); SNG ANS 1260. VF, light porosity on Apollo's cheek. Very rare. From the hand of the greatest of Sicilian master engravers. ($7500)
