OCTAVIAN. Circa 29-27 BC. AR Denarius (3.91 gm). Italian mint. Victory standing right on prow, holding palm and wreath / Octavian, holding olive branch, driving triumphal quadriga right. RIC I 264; CRI 416; RSC 115. Toned VF. ($400)

From the Tony Hardy Collection.

This denarius commemorates Octavian's victory over Cleopatra at Actium and his triumphal entry into Alexandria. It is possible that the silver for this issue came from the Ptolemaic treasury there.
