SASANIAN KINGS of PERSIA. Balash. 484-488 AD. AR Obol (0.48 gm). HW (Husrav-sad-Kavad?) mint. No legend, crowned and cuirassed bust right, ribbon rising from right shoulder, flame on left; mint signature to right / No legends, bust of Balash in front of fire altar with attendants and ribbon; star and crescent flanking flames. Cf. Göbl I/1 (for type); Paruck -; Alram -; MACW -; De Morgan -. Lightly toned, good VF. Extremely rare; one of two known (see Sotheby's, 21-22 November 1983, lot 199 for the other specimen). ($300)
