INDO-PARTHIAN. Margiana or Sogdiana. Unknown king. Circa late 1st century BC - early 1st century AD. Imitation countermarked Parthian AR Drachm (2.58 gm) of Phraates IV. Diademed bust left; "countermark:" helmeted bust right / Archer seated right on throne, holding bow. Senior 199.2D; Sellwood 91.13; Shore 473; Alram -; MIG 612 (King 'A'); MACW 767 (King 'A'). Good VF, even light porosity. Rare. ($200)

The Senior Type 199.2D drachms are remarkable as they completely imitate the Type 199.1D issues, including the countermark, which was engraved in the obverse die.
