BASIL I, the Macedonian, with CONSTANTINE. 868-879 AD. AV Solidus (4.41 gm). Constantinople mint. Christ, nimbate, enthroned facing, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels; legend ends with five-pointed star / Crowned facing busts of Basil, with short beard and loros, and Constantine, beardless and wearing chlamys, holding patriarchal cross between them.
