MACEDON, Akanthos. Circa 480-470 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.07 gm). Lion right, attacking bull kneeling to left, bull's head reverted; Q above, floret in exergue / Quadripartite incuse square. Cf. Desneux 69-79 (unlisted dies); AMNG III 5; SNG ANS 10 var. (bull's head not reverted). Good VF, toned, light porosity, old scrape on reverse. ($2500)
