AELIUS. Caesar, 136-138 AD. Æ Sestertius (29.27 gm, 6h). Struck 137 AD. L AELIVS CAESAR, bare head right / TR POT COS II, CONCORD in exergue, S C across field, Concordia seated left on ornate and draped throne, feet on footstool, holding patera in outstretched right hand and leaning left arm on small cornucopiae set on seat. RIC II -; cf. Strack 880do; Banti 2; BMCRE -; Cohen -. Good VF, Tiber patina, flan flaw on reverse. Exceptional portrait. Extremely rare reverse variety; only other known example comes from M. Paul Vautier and Prof. Maxime Collignon Collections (Naville II, 12-14 June 1922), lot 780. ($2000)
