Dated 1552. `IMP•CAROLVS•V•AVG, laureate cuirassed bust in the Roman manner, facing right; K in right field, bust entirely within linear border / `GVIQ3 •SVVM`, eagle grasping thunderbolt and olive branch on globe, imperial crown above; date as 1S S Z, linear border. Cf. CNI V pg. 231, 9 (variations in legends); Crippa pg. 44-45, 6-7. Good VF, toned, scrape on reverse. ($3000)

Crippa 7A illustrates a reverse die with this mirror image date variety, but neither Crippa nor CNI mentions this variety in their catalogues.
