HADRIAN. 117-138 AD. AR Cistophoric Tetradrachm (10.64 g, 7h). Mint B. Struck after 128 AD. AVGVSTVS HADRIANVS [P] P P, bare head right / MON AVG, Moneta standing left, holding scales and sceptre. RIC II -; cf. Metcalf, Cistophori, type 78, 315 (obv. die [O 1], different rev. type); BMCRE -; RSC -. VF, slight scratch in obverse field. Overstruck on a cistophorus of Augustus, Sutherland Group VI. Unique. ($750)

It appears that the engraver of the obverse die originally placed the first P in P P before Hadrian's neck, but then erased it in the die and engraved both letters below the bust.
