Laureate head right / GAVDIVM ROMANORVM, Alamannia seated left, in attitude of mourning, touching bow; trophy with spearheads to right; ALAMANNIA in exergue. RIC VII 238; Depeyrot 28/1. VF, a few minor marks. Rare. ($4000)

During his reign, Constantine not only had to contend with the internal power struggles of Roman imperial politics, but was also constantly occupied in campaigns against the Franks and Alamanni. This coin records victories over the latter group.
