[Antiquities] ROMAN. Iron finger ring. 3rd-4th century AD. Inner diameter 18mm. Plain iron band set with flat engraved gemstone. The stone, a polished black onyx or hematite, is engraved with an intaglio of a winged Victory erecting a trophy of arms. The metal and martial theme suggest a ring owned by a military officer. Stone is in choice condition, the iron ring showing only slight oxidation. A remarkably well preserved piece of ancient iron jewelry. Rare in this condition. ($300)
