BOIOTIA, Thebes. Circa 425-395 BC. AR Stater (12.01 g). Boiotian shield / The infant Herakles seated facing, head right, strangling two serpents; bow to left, Q-E below; all within circular incuse. Myron Hoard pl. B, 35 (same rev. die); Traite III 264, pl. CCI, 7 (same rev. die); SNG Lockett 1748 (this coin). Good VF, wonderful old cabinet tone, minor deposit under tone on the obverse. Very rare in this condition. Of artistic merit. ($10,000)
