SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Antiochos I Soter. Sole Reign, 280-261 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.86 g, 12h). Pergamon mint. Struck under Philetairos in the name of Seleukos I, circa 279-274 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress / BASILEWS SELEUKOU, Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, helmeted head of Athena right; oval below throne. SC 308d; WSM 1535; SNG Spaer 244 (same dies); Houghton 634 (this coin); Meydancikkale 2865 (same dies). EF, dark iridescent toning, slight hot strike on obverse. Very rare issue. ($2000)
