PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Cleopatra VII Philopator. 51-30 BC. Æ 23mm (10.10 g, 12h). Tripolis mint. Dated RY 2 (Phoenician; 36/5 BC). Diademed and draped bust right / TRIPOLITWN, Nike, holding wreath in her right hand, palm in left, standing on prow right; LB (date) to right. RPC I 4510; Rouvier 1640; Weiser -; Svoronos -; SNG Copenhagen -; BMC Phoenicia 19. EF, dark green patina, some light earthen encrustation, slight strengthening in hair, light cleaning marks. Exceptional for issue. ($3000)

Mark Antony illegitimately "bestowed" a number of territories in the east to Cleopatra, which were added to her royal dominions, including portions of Phoenicia in 37/6 BC. As such, her regnal years in Phoenicia were reckoned from this date, and are reflected on her coins that were struck there.
